Objective
- The Distinguished Service Award recognizes up to 10 ASIS International individual members who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and contributions to ASIS International’s mission and objectives during the award year.
Eligibility
- Nominee must be a current ASIS member in good standing.
- Nominees may only receive the award once.
- Nominees not selected may be re-nominated in any following year.
- Members of the ASIS Global Board of Directors and ASIS Awards Committee are ineligible to apply.
Nominations
- Nominations may be submitted by any member in good standing, to include self-nominations.
- Nominations will be evaluated only for performance during the award year, defined as the previous calendar year (January to December).
- All nominations must be submitted via the online awards management platform by the publicized annual deadline.
Criteria
Contributions will be considered based on the full scope of the ASIS International member experience, including but not limited to membership/volunteer engagement, certification, ASIS Foundation, Standards & Guidelines, mentorship/career development, publications, chapters/communities, etc.
- Exceptional Leadership & Service
- Went above and beyond in a volunteer capacity, contributing significant time and effort.
- Took initiative to drive the association’s mission and goals forward.
- Consistently supported association events, initiatives, and strategic goals.
- Innovation & Initiative
- Developed or improved programs, projects, or policies that positively impacted ASIS and its members.
- Demonstrated creativity in problem-solving and enhancing member/volunteer engagement.
- Impact on Membership & Engagement
- Played a key role in recruiting, retaining, or engaging members.
- Fostered networking, mentorship, or professional development opportunities for members.
- Industry Influence
- Represented ASIS positively to external stakeholders, partners, or the broader security industry.
- Advocated for key issues relevant to the profession and association members.
- Collaboration & Teamwork
- Worked effectively with other members/volunteers to foster a sense of community and shared purpose.
- Built strong relationships within ASIS to promote collaboration and success.
Evaluation and Selection
- There may be up to 10 Distinguished Award winners in any award year.
- A Selection Committee or panel will evaluate the nominees based on the established criteria.
- The Selection Committee relies solely on the information provided in the nominations.
- The Selection Committee may opt not to select any winners if there are no suitable nominations.
- Notifications will be issued via the online awards management platform.
Award and Recognition
- Award recipients are formally recognized and honored at the annual Global Security Exchange.
- Award recipients receive an engraved award, digital promotional graphics, and complimentary All-Access Pass registration to the award year’s Global Security Exchange.
- All winners will be featured in ASIS marketing and communications vehicles.
